How Diverse Is Your Reading List?

Paste your DOIs. See where your knowledge comes from.

Reading lists shape what students think knowledge looks like. If every text on a module comes from the same handful of countries and institutions, that is not a curriculum. It is a mirror.

This tool analyses the geographic and structural patterns in your reading list automatically. Paste your DOIs, and it will show you where your authors are based, how concentrated your sources are, and what the structural shape of your list looks like.

Geography is only one dimension of diversity. Gender, ethnicity, career stage, and institutional prestige all matter too, but they cannot be reliably inferred from metadata. This tool gives you the data you can get automatically. The harder questions require human judgement. Based on Bird & Pitman (2020).
